There are many lovely places to marry in Canberra and they are popular, so, once you have decided on a date, book them in.
Here are some Canberra wedding venues I really like.
- The Margaret Whitlam Pavilion at the Arboretum
- The Chapel at Gold Creek.
These are two of my favourites. What makes them great is that they work no matter what the weather is like, access is good and acoustics excellent. The Arboretum is a starkly modern iconic building with magnificent views overlooking Canberra. The Chapel, on the other hand, is traditional and full of charm.
Outdoors, it is hard to go passed:
- Old Parliament House Rose Gardens
- Nara Park
- The Botanic Gardens
- The Carillon
- Poachers Pantry
- Ginninderry Homestead
For elegance these venues stand out:
- The Boat House by the Lake
- The Hyatt
- The Ottoman
- Pialligo Estate Winery
If you are into self-catering or you want to bring in caterers, Yarralumla Woolshed is available. It is just what it sounds like, a large old woolshed, full of rustic charm and it can take large numbers.
But wherever you get married, the venue just facilitates it. One of my most joyous weddings was crammed into a tiny room after a sudden deluge. The cramped conditions didn’t in any way diminish the happiness of the couple and the fun we all had.
